CMHC HOUSING OUTLOOK SEMINAR 2015

The CHBA-NL was out in force to take in CMHC’s 2015 Newfoundland Housing Outlook Seminar on March 11th at the Holiday Inn.

Association President Warrick Butler, past-president Steve Porter, CHBA  President Jane Morgan & CEO Victoria Belbin joined housing industry professionals from all sectors for the annual event to listen to the latest information on economic and housing market conditions tailored to our specific market.

Victoria delivered greetings on behalf of the CHBA-NL stressing the uniqueness of the Association’s relationship with the CMHC and the need for industry collaboration.

Alex Macdonald, Regional Economist, CMHC provided an overview and analysis of the National and Atlantic Canadian housing market and the various factors that affect it. Atlantic Canada’s housing sector continues to see change and face challenges. In recent years, changing demographic and economic conditions have resulted in demand shifting from single-family homes to multi-residential living.

Chris Janes, Senior Market Analyst, CMHC Chris Janes will provide an overview and analysis of the local housing market and the various factors that affect it. He will discuss recent housing market trends and provide an outlook for housing over the forecast period. Chris will focus on local economic and demographic information, and the new home, existing home, condominium, and rental markets.
