Changes to JOBSinNL.ca

JOBSinNL.ca is changing to serve you better

The Department of Advanced Education and Skills will be changing www.JOBSinNL.ca  and creating a new working relationship with the National Job Bank at www.jobbank.gc.ca.  Employers and job seekers in Newfoundland and Labrador will continue to enjoy high quality service as JOBSinNL.ca will continue to exist and be supported by the Department of Advanced Education and Skills.

You will use www.JobBank.gc.ca to post any new job postings.  JOBSinNL.ca will still automatically display your postings; however, JobBank.gc.ca will be the website you use to register and post jobs going forward.  You are asked to set up an account with the National Job Bank in order to advertise your job vacancies.  To start the registration process, please visit www.JobBank.gc.ca  and select the “Post your job” icon.  By using the National Job Bank, your job postings will continue to appear on JOBSinNL.ca and will be advertised to all of Canada via the Job Bank site.

Later this year, the National Job Bank will also introduce a new job matching service that will match qualified local job seekers with advertised job vacancies. This will help employers fill their job vacancies quickly.

Please note all job postings on JOBSinNL.ca posted prior to July 09 will no longer be available on the site after this date. If you have a current posting on JOBSinNL.ca and wish to have it continue on and after July 09, please register and create the posting on www.JobBank.gc.ca.

We anticipate a smooth transition to working with the National Job Bank; however, should you require any assistance; please contact:

Employers potentially using Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFW)

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador will be changing JOBSinNL.ca July 09, 2015.  This will see employer registration and job creation functions being transferred to the National Job Bank (www.jobbank.gc.ca).

Starting July 09, 2015, you will use www.JobBank.gc.ca to post any new job postings.  JOBSinNL.ca will still automatically display your postings; however, JobBank.gc.ca will be the website you use to register and post jobs going forward.  Employers are encouraged to register as soon as possible on www.JobBank.gc.ca to ensure sufficient time to validate their account information.  To start the registration process, please visit www.JobBank.gc.ca and select the “Post your job” icon.

Employers who may be considering hiring a temporary foreign worker, in the event that they are unable to find qualified Canadians or permanent residents, must be aware that it is their responsibility to ensure they meet all of the advertising requirements under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP).  Registering with the National Job Bank will minimize any disruptions and ensure that employers meet the TFWP’s advertising requirements.  Once your registration is completed, you can then start creating your job postings.

To meet the advertising requirements, the job advertisement must:

  • Be posted for a minimum of 4 consecutive weeks starting from the first day the ad appears and is accessible to the general public;
  • Be posted during the 3 months prior to the employer applying for an Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).
  • Remain posted to actively seek qualified Canadians and permanent residents until the date a positive or negative LMIA is issued.
